WHO ARE WE?
BEST, Board of European Students of Technology is a student-driven organization that provides communication, co-operation and exchange possibilities for students all over Europe.
With the idea in mind to connect local students at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg with the European wide network of BEST, a group of internationally-minded students from Erlangen set out to establish the first German Local BEST Group in March 2012.
WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?
People understand and respect different cultures and societies. The environment of empowered diversity supports people in applying their full potential and acting responsibly.
BEST helps students to achieve an international mindset, to reach a better understanding of cultures and societies and to develop the capacity to work in culturally diverse environments. BEST creates opportunities for the personal development of students and supports them in reaching their full potential
THE BEST SPIRIT
We build good relationships in which people help, support, and care for another.
We value good personal relations and teamwork. We focus on each person involved in our activities and in this way we create synergy.
We seek the ability to make changes and deal with changing conditions.
We are open to everything new. We value and raise the ability of being mobile and to quickly respond to changes in the environment or any other obstacles that we face.
We strive to continuously improve the standards in everything we do.
We use all our creativity to enhance the way we work. This is to guarantee constant development of our actions.
We gain skills and understanding through experience.
We value everything we learn through the experience of being involved in our activities and we strive to learn as much as possible from every aspect of our work. We value personal development and strive for an open learning community, where we have the freedom to share and develop ideas.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Every season, Local BEST Groups organize academic courses for students of technology. The courses are either on a technical subject or focused on different soft skills.
EBEC (European BEST Engineering Competition) is an engineering competition, where teams of students compete against each other trying to solve different technical problems.
BSST (BEST Soft Skills Track) is an event over multiple weeks where we provide training sessions on certain soft skill-related topics.
