CASE STUDY

The Case Study (CS) is a theoretical challenge in which students are given a technical, legal, practical or social problem that needs to be solved within a
limited time and with limited resources.
For this purpose, the students need to abstract and analyze the problem and present their solution.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN

Innovative Design (ID) focuses on the skills of the students with which they can create a prototype supported by a plan of how it can look in a real life environment. It just needs to illustrative enough for the future implementation and isn’t expected to be fully functional.

The challenges will be done in teams of 4.

You can either register a whole team or apply just by yourself and be matched with other people.

Patrik studied a field of medicine called the “limbic system” at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The term describes the part of the brain responsible for emotional response, learning, and memory retrieval.

This is how the LimbicChair® came about, which combines the functional and the emotional in a revolutionary way.” Patrik founded Limbic Life with a determination to use evolutionary science to optimize the connection between the brain and body.

Constanze Welter is part of the global Research & Innovation Ecosystems Team. Managing strategic research and innovation partnerships between Siemens and universities, tech incubators, academic startups as well as talents.

Christoph Kiener works as a principal scientist in Siemens Technology, the pre-development unit of Siemens AG on corporate level. With his background in sustainability engineering, process technology and product development, he pushes more resource and energy efficient applications using Additive Manufacturing. He studied chemistry, holds a PhD in heterogeneous catalysis from Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Mülheim, and has an associate lecturer position at KIT Karlsruhe.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN

Susann Kunz is part of the Global Marketing Team of Mainstream Engineering. She focuses on promoting the Academic & Startup Program for the Siemens 3D CAD software Solid Edge. Her key competences are SEO, SEM, Strategical Concepts, Customer Success Development and Content Marketing.

Andrea Boese is a HR People person with great experience and passion for Talent Acquisition – especially when it comes to attracting students to the company. Her heart beats for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Andrea thinks that only the people who feel that they truly belong to Siemens can unfold the beauty of their talent to the fullest and consequently contribute to the success of the many magnificent projects they are working on.

Experienced program manager with a demonstrated history of working in various research and industry contexts, ranging from digital industries to healthcare and energy. Skilled in product design, concept design, design sprint facilitation and customer engagement.
